Fire Shield OEM appliance cords are essential for applications such as heaters, air conditioners, humidifiers, fans, etc.  The National Electric Code (NEC) and Underwriters Laboratories (UL) require the use of either an Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter (AFCI) or a Leakage Current Detection and Interruption (LCDI) protected cord set on all cord and plug connected room air conditioners.  Fire Shield appliance cords meet these requirements.
